Private lessons are one-on-one coaching sessions for you, your dog, and your trainer. They are available both in-home and at the Sundog facility, in either 30-minute or 1-hour appointments.
While training is often thought of as “teaching the dog,” private lessons are equally about supporting the person on the other end of the leash. These sessions are designed to help you understand your dog’s training plan, practice your handling skills, troubleshoot real-life challenges, and feel more confident carrying those skills forward at home.
For dogs enrolled in Day Train, private lessons can help bridge the gap between what your dog knows and what you know how to ask for, reinforce, and maintain. They are also available to non-Day Train clients who are looking for individualized, practical support.
Please note: In-home lessons may be subject to an additional travel fee depending on location. New behaviour modification cases (reactivity, fear, aggression) may require an additional, free consult before booking.
BEHAVIOUR PRIVATES
These privates are for dogs and owners working through concerns such as reactivity, fear, aggression, or other behaviour challenges that require a more individualized plan. These sessions focus on safety, management, skill-building, changing emotional responses, and helping owners understand how to support their dog.
Behaviour work requires consistency and follow-through at home, so these sessions are best suited to owners who are ready to make an effort, follow their trainer’s plan, and be an active part of their dog’s progress.

SPORT & Skill PRIVATES
These privates are for teams looking for focused coaching in basic obedience, agility foundations, rally, tricks, scent work, cooperative care, fitness, flyball, or other sport-related skills. These sessions are a good fit both for newer teams building strong foundations and more experienced teams looking to refine engagement, focus, body awareness, handler mechanics, confidence, and clear communication.
Skills & Sport Privates are held at the Sundog facility only and are not available in-home.
